The Alain Geoffroy estate at Beines near Chablis tried late harvesting
with Chardonnay grapes from a south-facing slope receiving plenty of sunshine.
Picked by hand with careful selection of grapes at the end of October,
one month after the normal harvest, in perfect condition, the passerillage
has concentrated the flavours and sugars. These grapes have produced a
rich nectar, fascinating to discover, with a vanilla-tinted taste of exotic
fruit, apricot, banana and candied fruit, with a good balance. Taking
advantage of an exceptional year, Alain Geoffroy has succeeded in this
experiment to present another aspect of Chardonnay, extremely interesting
and little known in our region.
